Man run over by own car

A Newlands father of two was run over in his driveway by his own motor vehicle on Saturday 11 July at his Grasshill Road home in Newlands west.

Hariram 'Pops' Singh (43) had returned home from the shop in his ford sierra. Singh left the car idling and jumped off to unlock the driveway gates. The driveway leading to the house has a steep decline. While doing so the car rolled forward and ran over him. The car came to a halt after colliding into a wall. Singh was lying next to the gate in pain.
