Doctors continue with lunch time pickets

Doctors around the country have given the department of health until the 29 May 2009 to meet with their demands of better working conditions and pay increases or face a full blown strike.

They also asked the government to show respect for them.

"They have money for stadium but they cannot give us increases. The public has no idea of what us"public" doctors go through in order to provide the health service.I am a 2nd year intern, and slave in conditions unknown to the public from insect ridden wards, wards with no lights, poor stocks in the hospital, to working 36 hours straight and snoozing in our cars. The doctors of S.A.slave. THe media has not highlighted our story.

Cousins found execute in sherwood

Local security gaurds made the gruesome find of two lifeless bodies in bushes along West Ridng Road in Sherwood.

The bodies of cousins, Zainool Aberdeen Fakir(34) and Akbhar Sukdeo(27), were found on Thursday, 14 May at 7 am by two security guards returning home after night duty. They found the first body in the back seat of a red golf that was parked in bushes along West Riding Road just underneath the Jan Smuts Avenue overpass.

Arjun Rampal can’t stop raving about gorgeous Nicole Kidman.He’s said, “She’s tall, fabulous, gorgeous, and professional and has ball of fire rolling. She’s a bit of a serious person and was overpoweringly attractive before the lens.

Interestingly in the commercial Nicole Kidman walks straight into his room unzipping her dress.Ummm… so this chap got a chance to get lucky with a gori chick.He explains, “It’s quite a gripping humor at the end where Nicole walks and unzips her dress intending to go for. Fine It’s up to audiences to decide what I would go for… Schweppes or Nicole”.

I would like to be a journalist: Amitabh

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, whose antipathy towards the media is well known, said he "would like to be a journalist".

"I would like to be a journalist. In fact in my interviews that I had given in the 1970s, I mentioned during most of them that I want to become a journalist in my next life," said Amitabh.

"I say this because I feel that it is a very difficult task since sometimes your conscience doesn't match with reality and that's when you want to go home and tear yourself apart and take a decision," he added.

Police Crackdown on Computer theft syndicates

Computers valued at R100000 was seized in two separate police raids uncovering a computer theft syndicate at a second-hands goods dealership in the Durban CBD.

SAPS point crime prevention members inspectors 'Pops' Isaac, 'Mac' Mahaaraj, Suren Nihor and Cliffy Moodley and constable Muzi Morake seized four laptops, Garmen GPS systems from a pawn broker in Rutherford Street. One of the laptops was linked to a Durban Central Case while the Garmen GPS system was linked to a theft-out-of motor-vehicle case in Umhlanga Rocks.

Police arrested the owner f the shop and also conducted a search of his flat in Claridge Court.

John follows Shah Rukh Khan's footsteps

Sources reveal that John Abraham has been roped in by famous International cosmetic giant Garnier to promote their latest product, a new cream for men. Sources further add, "John was the first choice of the brand owners as his persona suited the product. His popularity amongst the younger generation also helped him get the deal.

It is learnt that he has in fact already shot for the print camparan earlier in the month. The ad Tilm for the product was shot at various'places in Mumbai just a week back. This TV commercial shall be on air across IV screens from the first week of May."

Revealed: The secret of Hrithik's new look

Hrithik Roshan recently made an appearance as a brand ambassador for 'Rupa Macro Man' at a Mumbai star hotel. What caught our eye that time was his new look. The Bollywood superhero came with a small pony tail neatly tied behind. When we probed further, we found out the secret behind his new look.

Sources revealed, "Hrithik is soon gonna to shoot a special song and dance number for'his home production 'Kites'. Though the shoot of the film is over, this is a special number which shall be used extensively to promote the film in India and abroad where it is also going to be released in its English version

Harvard scientist to be awarded honorary degree

Distinguished international scientist, Professor Bruce D. Walker was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine at the University of KwaZulu-Natal Westville Campus last week.

Professor Walker is one of the world's leading HIV immunologists. He has made exceptional and distinguished contributions to AIDS research at Harvard University and the University of KwaZulu-Natal's Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine. Walker's clinical speciality is infectious disease, focusing on HIV and AIDS. He has led the HIV research field since his work in the mid1980s identifying cytotoxic T lymphocytes as key participants in effective control of HIV infection. This and other work he has laid the foundation for a detailed understanding of immune responses to HIV.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dasarath Chetty said Professor Walker is leading international research aimed at understanding how certain people infected with the Human immunodeficiency (HIV) virus are able to fight the virus through their own immune system.
